To hear his Tuning: Drop D (DADGBE) Part 1 starts at 0:00 and ends at 2:19. There will be nine parts in total. It's a rather long piece, so breaking it up into sections is less daunting and more managable. I'll submit a new part about every week or so. This is an incredibly beautiful song on classical guitar and no one plays it like Segovia. It's also just an incredibly interesting piece to analyze. The chaconne is a baroque era composition. They were variations on repeated short harmonic progressions, which in many cases used short and simple repetitive bass-lines which acted as the composition's melodic structure allowing for variations, decoration, figuration and melodic invention. In this sense it closely resembles the Passacaglia. In learning this piece you'll soon recognize the repeating musical motifs, which vary in sometimes subtle ways, others are more dramatic, but essentially the patterns are grounded enough to be recognizable throughout as theyr're built upon and augmented. 3/4 Time and in the key of D major though many chromatic notes appear throughout.
