Old Rugged Cross

`1.  On a hill far a-way stood an old rugged cross the emblem of suffering and shame.
 2.  In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine a wondrous beauty I see,
 3.  To that old rugged cross I will ever be true, its shame and reproach gladly bear

1.  and I love that old cross where the dearest and best for a world of lost sinners was slain.
2.  for ‘twas on that old cross  Jesus suffered  and   died, to   pardon  and  sanctify   me.
3.  then he’ll call me someday  to my home far away, where his glory  forever  I’ll   share.

   So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, till my trophies at last I lay down. I will

  cling to the old rugged cross, and  exchange it someday for a crown.
