Intro:
The beginning of the song has a "drone" type sound that can be done on guitar. As you
play the E chord mute and pull off at the bridge using the ball your hand. That's the
easiest description I can think of.  Bruce Springsteen does it a lot with his acoustic
songs if you want more examples.
