I've seen and heard Rich play the above part with a slide during live shows, for example
Sometimes picking the individual notes at the 11th, 12th, 9th, and 10th frets as well.
The first ending is played at the end of the first solo, which then leads directly into chorus. Rich then reverts back to the solo rhythm, starting out soft and with a gradual as the band comes back in and Marc Ford continues to solo, which lasts until the end of song. This time, instead of playing the first ending, play the following:
